With COVID-19 being a major concern in our community, we here at Suffolk Pediatrics, PC have taken some steps to ensure your safety and limit the potential spread of the virus.
1.) Our schedule has changed for the pandemic. We have designated times each day for well-visits and for sick visits. Please note this means that certain appointment times may not be available for your specific appointment type.
3.) All of our medical staff will be diligent in double cleaning the rooms, exam tables, doorknobs, and equipment in between all patients.
4.) We ask our patients to wait in their cars instead of our waiting room, if possible. We will call you when you are ready to go into a room.
5.) We ask that only the patient(s) being seen and their parents/guardians/direct caregiver come to the office, if possible. All siblings not being seen, grandparents, and other family members are asked to stay at home in order to limit the amount of people coming through the office.
6.) Telehealth appointments may be available on a case by case basis. Please Click Here to learn more.
Steps you can take to avoid contracting and spreading the disease:
1.) Frequent hand-washing throughout the day using warm water and soap and lasting for at least 20 seconds.
2.) Adhere to the self-isolation order enacted by the state. Limit how often you go out to the store, and avoid using public transportation if possible. Take special care to avoid those who are strongly at-risk for contracting severe symptoms (the elderly, those with underlying medical conditions like asthma, diabetes, or chemotherapy)
3.) Limit/avoid physical interactions with friends and family members from outside your own home, and encourage those who live with you to do the same.
If you think you have contracted the Coronavirus or are showing symptoms after being exposed to someone with a confirmed case:
1.) Call the State of New York Coronavirus Hotline at 888-364-3065 to make an appointment with the Long Island drive-thru testing sites. The closest site is located in Stony Brook, NY and is open 7 days a week from 7 am to 7 pm.
2.) Isolate yourself while you await both testing and the results from your testing. This means do not go outside unless you absolutely have to. If you must go outside, wear masks and gloves to prevent the spread. While inside in your homes, try to stay in your bedroom by yourself as much as possible, avoiding both the elderly and the extremely young.
